Just read an article on Expressen's homepage: "Theo, 2, bitten three times by poisonous snake."

I don't know why I clicked.

Theo's mom decided to let him walk, ALONE, the 150 feet between their house and her mother's house. On the way there, unsupervised Theo decided he wanted to PET A SNAKE HE SAW. The snake, as snakes do, got freaked out and bit Theo, twice in the left leg and once in the left arm. It took all the anti-venom they had in the county to cure him.

I have no kind words other than I am glad the boy is okay and hopefully his mother learned a lesson in responsibility.

Tiistai-iltana isännöimämme monikulttuurisen illan ehdoton kohokohta oli, kun yht´äkkiä koko sisäpihan täytti tajunnan räjäyttävällä volyymillä ”There Must Be Another Way” –tuon nimeltä mainitsemattoman naapurimaan sodanvastainen Euroviisu-biisi. Oli näköjään unohtunut Euroviisu-cd tiskijukilta päälle..

Eilen lähdin urheana kampaajalle. Kairossa kävin Four Seasonsissa hemmottelemassa itseäni, mutta nyt päätin samalla säästää rahaa ja saada aidon syyrialaisen kokemuksen metrin korkuisten kiharapilvien joukossa. Kysyin jopa arabian opettajaltani tarpeellisen sanaston, mikä osottautuikin erittäin hyväksi ideaksi: omistaja kysyi heti naamani nähdessään puhunko ranskaa. Oikein polleana pystyin sitten selostamaan, että ehei, minähän puhun arabiaa ja selostamaan mitä halusin. Vaaleita raitoja, ei, ei platinaa, vaaleaa niin kuin tämä hiussuortuva. Kipitin sitten Georgen perässä yläkertaan. Alakerta oli föönausten ja leikkausten valtakuntaa, kun yläkerrassa taas tehtiin kaikki värjäykset.

Istuin toiseen tuoleista ja hämmennyin täysin, kun joku 12-vuotias poika alkoi ammattilaisen ottein harjata tukkaani. Purin poskeani, jotta en alkaisi yllättyneisyyttäni nauraa. George aloitti pitkällisen raitojen tekoprosessin, jonka aikana hän ehti monen monituista kertaa pomottaa näitä kahta nuorta apupoikaa. Tehkää kahvia! Siivotkaa lavuaari! Mitä te oikein luulette tekevänne! Tule tänne katsomaan, niin opit jotain! Tunnin verran niitä raitoja tehtiin, pienen pieniä raitoja joka puolella päätä. Jossain vaiheessa aloin hieman huolestuneena katsoa, mitä tököttiä mun hiuksiini laitetaan, kun pojat sekoittivat vapaalla kädellä jotain Blonds-jauhetta ja isosta tonkasta jotain vaaleanpunaista nestettä. Siis mähän en halunnut mitään platinaa..

Spanish police thwart jail break using remote-controlled Zeppelin

Three people have been arrested after their plan to aid the escape of an inmate from prison in Las Palmas on the Canary Islands was discovered by police. They planned to use a 13 foot long remote-controlled airship to deliver night vision goggles, climbing gear and camouflage paint to the Italian convict who would then use the equipment to escape from prison.

It is thought the inmate, identified by police as 52 year-old Giulio B, would use the gear to scale down a prison wall at night where a car would be waiting to take him into hiding.

"He would be transported to a foreign country where he would hide out while he waited for false identity documents and would continue to oversee the shipment of drugs to our country," a statement released by Spanish police said.

The three people arrested by police had sent up camp in a camouflaged tent on a hill some 600 metres away from the jail where they spent weeks observing security measures at the prison through powerful binoculars and telephoto lenses. The team of two Spaniards and a Urugauan had set up motion detection sensors around their camp to warn of anyone approaching their stake-out site.

Authorities said they learnt of the plan and intercepted the package containing the inflatable zeppelin when it arrived in the Canary Islands from Bergamo.

Kihisin koko eilisillan ja kehittelin vielä aamullakin purevia kommentteja Herra Kalligrafian pään menoksi, mutta eihän se pelkuri tietenkään uskaltanut meidän aukioloaikana tulla. Hmph! Mokomakin lieroke. Eilen illalla yhdeksän aikaan olin tulossa Ann-Marin kanssa kotiin ostosreissultamme, kun ovella kimppuume hyökkäsi iilimadoista mallia ottanut vanhempi mies. Tunnistin hänet samaksi hepuksi, joka yhtenä iltana rupesi seuraamaan meitä pyörällään höpöttäen jotain Hannusta ja suomalaisista presidenteistä. Silloin käytin Kairon vieraille tuttua ”Hiljaa”-elettä ja sanoin ”Khalas!” eli Nyt riitti/Lopeta. Siihen loppui onneksi miehen matka, mutta parin kadun verran podin pientä syyllisyyttä ja mietin, olinkohan kuitenkin vähän liian töykeä. Se pelko oli selvästi aivan turha, sillä nyt tämä sama kaveri oli mukavana yllätyksenä meidän ja kotiovemme välissä.
